Work on MARS alpha in The Village of Prophet Elias continues with a 2nd trip to fix up the trailer — including a WiFi -4g (LTE) install.

The WiFi signal reaches the main cabin. The signal fluctuates but provides good connectivity . A note will be attached to this post as to the upload & publish speed.

Menu Testing

It's one thing cook something for yourself at home, and another to cook in the village. The last two years I've been testing the new menu. The goals;

*made village style over a wood fire
*elimination of processed food (including snacks)
*Studying Eastern cultures via their cooking (a form of cultural anthropology )

The menu this year;

sauce & marinade flavor : ( apple with fresh ginger root, garlic & dark honey )

*Chicken
*Pork Souvlaki
*Roast bone-in ham

Deserts & Snacks:

*Individual apple pie. Small pies instead of one large pie.

*Two cookies flavors ;
   — cinnamon & sugar
   — cinnamon , ginger & apple

Drink ;
*real ice tea (not powdered , and not store bought )
  — flavors ; date, loganberry & hawthorn

The Village of Prophet Elias 2015

Camp Prophet Elias is The Village {Το Χωριό}

Camp Prophet Elias is "the village" of MARS α. Set in the Greek village of Prophet Elias {Το Χωριό
του Προφήτη Ηλία}, kids 8 to 15 can spend up to 2 weeks out doors. We are not a "cabin" summer
camp. We are a "tent" wilderness summer camp. The Greek village of Prophet Elias {Το Χωριό του
Προφήτη Ηλία} was built by Greek parishioners of St. Nektarios (in Toronto) who wanted a Greek
village to go to for vacation.

The first week (a week before the feast of Prophet Elias) is the "official" PE camp. This is when most
of the kids come to camp. This year the week of the feast is July.26th (Sunday) to Aug.2nd
(Sunday) . The official camp date is the week prior;  July.19th to July.25th. However kids are
welcome to stay for the feast. Fr. Panagiotes Carras is the chef & sets daily instruction on the Church.

Due to fact that we are wilderness camp, and that the Village of Prophet Elias {Το Χωριό του Προφήτη
Ηλία} was built on the very edge of the electrical grid, we don't follow a rigorous schedule. Weather
and environmental conditions, often add unpredictable variations to the schedule. Rest assured that we
have operated for about a decade with out incident.

Campers (the villagers - οι χωρικοί) learn about village life, and simpler times - as the Village (the
camp - το Χωριό) only has bare minimum amenities.

There are more than enough activities that kids
can choose what they want. Some of the activities include, sewing, knitting, art, cooking & baking
(over an open pit fire). Kids, may even request activities for the next year. We will work with them to
create a custom experience.

We are woken up in the morning by a cacophony of wild birds, and herd of goats & sheep. Then at night we are put to bed with the calls of deer, moose and (in the second week) the howls of wolves & coyotes.

As for sports, there's swimming after lunch, and tag at night. There's golf (in the green) and boccie ball.
Between, 8pm and 11pm (and during severe weather) we seek refuge from the bugs in a cabin with
board games, chit-chat & snacks.

Due to transportation issues (to and from the beach) there is only room for 20 villagers. Beyond this limit, if there are kids who don't mind not going to the beach -
arrangements can be made.

Dates: July 19 to July 25 with an option to stay until August 2nd (the feast of Prophet Elias)
The Village (Το Χωριό): Reserved for the kids of the GOC-Kallinikos, ages 8 to 15
Co-ordinators: Open to girls, ages 16 to 25
Suggested Donation:  $50 for the 1st week & $50 if staying until August 2nd . No payment is needed
for those who wish to come, but are financially challenged.

As we have existed for about a decade, we are not a creation of the G.O.C., or Metropolitan Moses.
However, Metropolitan Moses is aware of, has been to, the village (Το Χωριό). - and we have been
informed will vist for a few days.
